I'm back, at long last.
September 13, 2012 It has been a long time since I posted here. I had a baby and as anyone with children will confirm, life became very busy. I hardly had time to shower let along maintain a website. Some friends complimented the site and encouraged me to get it going again, so here it is. My focus has changed a little. Before it was all about natural health and wellbeing and everything in between. Since having my second child, birthing unassisted and starting homeschooling, my focus these days is more about living naturally and wellbeing related to children, the home and family life. In addition I have incorporated Steiner inspired elements in our lives including Steiner inspired home schooling and bio-dynamic gardening. Please check out the Blog on the home page and continue to check here for the latest news about wellbeing, gathered from some fantastic external resources. Glad to be back, I hope you visit often. Warmly, Carole

Let food be your green medicine
After the last article (below), I wanted to post some positive information about how we can look after our health the natural way. “ Nutrition outperforms drug treatments for both prevention and treatment of chronic disease ” Published on PCC Natural Markets in February 2010. Did you know oatmeal lowers cholesterol as well as statin drugs and without the side effects? Or that four ounces of legumes a week reduces cancer rates 22 percent — better than any drug?
Unfortunately, these and other facts about nutrition are not part of the health care debate, which largely focuses on how to pay for drugs, devices and surgeries. But what about people like you, who are being proactive about your health? You're practicing another form of health care. You're practicing Green Medicine.

Prescription Drugs Cause More Deaths Than Ilegal Drugs in US
I try to publish positive stories and focus on the uplifting things in life, however, I felt this article is worth a read. It took me two attempts to read it (the first time I felt too annoyed to finish reading it). The full article is on the Dr. Mercola website and the link is below. Articles like this show why we personally need to take responsibility for own health and wellbeing.
Prescription Drugs Cause More Deaths than Illegal Drugs In addition to exorbitant health care costs for drugs and their subsequent side effects, the cost in terms of lives has also skyrocketed. Opioid painkillers alone — opium-like drugs that include morphine and codeine — now claim more than 13,800 lives each year. This means prescription painkillers have surpassed both heroin and cocaine as the leading cause of fatal overdoses, despite the fact that the FDA increased the restrictions for consumer drug ads in 2005, especially for COX-2 painkillers like Celebrex and Bextra. Additionally, more than 700,000 people visit U.S. emergency rooms each year as a result of adverse drug reactions. And, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), adverse drug reactions from drugs that are properly prescribed and properly administered cause about 106,000 deaths per year, making prescription drugs the fourth-leading cause of death in the U.S.
When you compare these statistics to the death toll from illegal drugs -- which is about 10,000 per year -- you can begin to see the magnitude of the problem the pharmaceutical industry is propagating.

Nine healing herbs and how to use them
April 04, 2011. We've been told time and time again to eat our veggies but more often than not we tend to forget that herbs can be just as crucial for adding nutritional density to the foods we eat and even better, they add tons of flavor to all our favorite recipes. The nine healing herbs are basil, ginger, garlic, parsley, cilantro, turmeric, mint, fenugreek and lavender. For more see the full article on Planet Green
The route causes of cancer often ignored by most doctors
April 02, 2011. Fifty years after the 'war on cancer' began in the US, it's clear we have lost the war. Environmental and lifestyle factors are increasingly being pinpointed as the primary culprits fueling the cancer epidemic. This includes pesticide exposure, pharmaceutical drugs, processed and artificial foods (plus the chemicals in the packaging), obesity, stress, and poor sleeping habits, wireless technologies, medical diagnostic radiation exposure, lack of sunshine exposure and use of sunscreens.

Your family could be eating organic food for the same price as proceesed food - or less
A common perception is that whole organic food is so expensive that it is out-of-budget for the average family or even for the average single consumer. It is also commonly perceived that the average grocery purchase of processed foods at a neighborhood supermarket, using the store discounts, makes the processed food diet within the budget of most families.
If you go along with those who accept the above hypothesis on faith, you may be quite surprised by what you find in this article. read more
It's just a ride
“The world is like a ride in an amusement park and when you choose to go on it you think it’s real because that’s how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and around and around and it has thrills and chills and it’s very brightly coloured and it’s very loud. And it’s fun - for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question; is this real? Or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, and they say, “Hey, don’t worry, don’t be afraid, ever, because… this is just a ride.”- Bill Hicks

I had a vision of a way we could have no enemies ever again, if you're interested in this. Anybody interested in hearing this? It's kind of an interesting theory, and all we have to do is make one decisive act and we can rid the world of all our enemies at once. Here's what we do. You know all that money we spend on nuclear weapons and defense every year? Trillions of dollars. Instead, if we spent that money feeding and clothing the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded ... not one ... we could as one race explore inner and outer space together in peace, forever. Prescription drugs kill more than twice as many Americans as HIV/AIDS or suicide. Fewer die from accidents or diabetes than adverse drug reactions. Dr Mercola has recently published an article that looks into how doctors in the US are being paid and manipulated by drug companies to prescribe their drugs. I include this information because I know first hand that it is true. Over five years ago a friend of mine who works as a rep for one of the leading drug companies confirmed many of the points covered in Dr Mercola's article. In part, it is what fuelled my determination to take care of my health the natural way and to avoid products from these drug companies as much as possible. To read more click here.

27 Oct 2010. For many years I have consumed soy milk. This is because research highlighted the amount of hormones in cow milk. Even consuming organic cow milk is not ideal for me and many others because of the protein casein makes it so difficult for humans to digest efficiently. (Digestion uses around 40% of your daily energy so it is wise to consume foods that are easy to digest) In the past few years I have discovered compelling evidence to show that soy milk is not such a healthy alternative afterall. For those of you who consume soy milk, please see the following article and consider your options. Soy Myths Exposed. The perception that soy is a "health food" is a very common one. This is highly unfortunate, for a number of reasons. How Soy Became Known as a "Health Food" and the history behind soy that created this misperception in the public's mind .... more

In a taped message to the world, their leader, Professor Hubert Pennington, said: ‘For too long the New Age movement has been dismissed as a bunch of beardy weirdy cranks and charlatans. But now we have weapons-grade homeopathy and we demand to be taken seriously.’ more

The powerful coalition that wants to engineer the world's climate
13 Sept 2010 Source: guardian.co.uk
Businessmen, scientists and right-wing thinktanks are joining forces to promote 'geo-engineering' ideas to cool the planet's climate, writes Clive Hamilton
Some people geo-engineering techniques, such as filling the sky with shiny dust to reflect sunlight, could curb such temperature rises without the need to restrict greenhouse gas emissions In August 1883 the painter Edvard Munch witnessed an unusual blood-red sunset over Oslo. Shaken up by it, he wrote in his diary that he "felt a great, unending scream piercing through nature". The incident inspired him to create his most famous work, The Scream. more
