I went to the dentist a few days ago and was told I had a hole in one of my back teeth. Treatment requires a filling and my options are either a white filling or a 'silver' filling. The white filling will not last as long as the 'silver' filling and the white filling will cost me £87 more than the silver filling.
I asked the dentist if the silver filling was the one that contained mercury. she confirmed that it was. I sighed and asked if she were me, would she have a silver filling and she she said she has had them. I asked the dentist if she would have one today. There was a pause and then she sighed. What was she to say really? Of course she had to say yes she would have one today. If I was in her position and my mortgage, bills and food, paid for by her employer trained me to administer fillings containing mercury, I would go with it. Well, maybe ten years ago I would have done. Not today, I would refuse to touch it. Not only for the health of my patients but also for my own health. There are so many reports online that suggest that dentists suffer with their health as a result of handling mercury. Then again, there are reports for just about anything online so after researching one has to consider the information, check in with your intuition and then make a decision and take responsibility for your own health.
I choose natural health and natural living. How could I ever chose to agree to allow mercury, a known poison, into my body? Silver fillings release mercury into the body on a continual basis and negatively affects the immune system and every part of the body. When it works out more cost effective to use other non-toxic materials in fillings then the truth about 'silver' fillings being dangerous and harmful will finally come out. Until that happens, most of the media and most of the dentists will tell you it's safe to have silver fillings containing mercury in your mouth.
I am willing to spend £87 so that I can have a non-toxic filling in my mouth. I take full responsibility for myself and my health and I know that this whole thing could have been avoided in the first place if I had taken better care of my teeth. It's my fault and I own that so from here on less sugar and more thorough brushing on my part and hopefully I won't have to any fillings ever again. Blessings, Carole
