We use many natural products in our home, everything from cleaning to healing sore fingers. One of my favourites are essential oils because not only are they effective but so enjoyable to use. Essential oils smell so good and lift the mood of everyone in the house, but beyond that, there are so, so many uses for them. They are powerful, safe and non-toxic.
Essential oils have been documented, through research to be anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-oxidant, immune supporting, regenerative. They are relaxing, uplifting, enhance clarity of thought, and support emotional well-being.
Essential oils have been used since early-recorded history to support health and wellness. The ancient Egyptians used many essential oils as medicine, and their recipes are recorded in the hieroglyphics. There are hundreds of references to the use of essential oils in the Bible. Hippocrates wrote, “The way to health is to have an aromatic bath or scented massage every day.” Even if we are not fortunate enough to receive a regular massage, most of us we can enjoy a bath with essential oils. There are many other ways too.
How to use them?
They can be applied to the skin, diffused in the air, added to bath water, added to food and drinking water, the doctors in the European medical community prescribe oils to be taken internally, in addition to or in place of pharmaceutical medications.
When essential oils are applied to the skin, they are absorbed easily, and are carried by the bloodstream to every cell in the body within minutes. They increase oxygen uptake, enhance absorption of nutrients, enhance longevity, and help our bodies detoxify. By simply inhaling therapeutic grade oils, we can uplift our mood and increase our feeling of peacefulness and well-being.
Since we only use a small amount of essential oils at a time, even oils that are expensive are often considered to be very economical.
